Bend Without the Snap? Don’t You Dare!
On July 13, 2021 Legally Blonde celebrated its 20th anniversary. To mark this milestone, Reese Witherspoon took to her Instagram. She posted a video of her floating on a raft in a pool as a nod to one of the scenes from the iconic movie. Reese took it a step further and asked her fans to contribute to the post in her caption:
Questions from her fans/followers (she has almost 30 million on IG) started to pour in. Some 3.5k comments later, there were only a handful of questions Reese actually answered.
Should her fans expect a response? Of course, her fans wouldn’t necessarily expect Reese, a busy actress and businesswoman to spend hours combing through each and every Instagram comment, however in this case it was Reese that started the conversation.
But we get it, Reese and her social team likely were overwhelmed and did their best to manage it. But at the same time she missed a huge opportunity to really connect with her fans. She asked them to “fire away”, and then dare I say, she did the bend without the snap.
As a huge Reese Witherspoon fan, I was excited to see she wanted to have an open conversation with her fans about the movie that made her a star, but was disappointed to see that most questions went unanswered. If you are going to put yourself out there, you have the responsibility to see it through. All the way through to the snap!
I can’t imagine having 30 million followers on my Instagram so I don’t know what it’s like to be overwhelmed with comments. I do know what it’s like though to be acknowledged for my comment- it’s beyond awesome! That surge of dopamine sure be ‘hitting different’ when this happens!
Of course, not every comment or question requires attention. Like a question she did answer gets repeated a few dozen times or spam or inappropriate questions, of course.
There has to be a way that if a celebrity or an influencer wants a two-way engagement it doesn’t have to be a daunting task since creating content that causes a reaction and conversation with your fans is more important than ever in this ever-evolving competitive landscape.
What if all Reese needed was a simple-to-use tool that gave her the ability to manage, sort, and respond to questions or comments to her post in a scalable fashion? Let’s face it, the Instagram interface isn’t the easiest thing to use, let alone manage 3,000+ comments in a single thread.
That’s why Stampede Social exists, to make Reese’s (and your) life easier than ever to spark and manage high levels of engagement on Instagram.
Managing Post Level Comments
Stampede Social (screenshot above) brings in all the top line comments to help you easily manage all of your Instagram comments at scale via a desktop interface. And it provides a running report of activity, sentiment, etc. for each post. Every comment and commenter can easily be responded to, DM'd or ignored. As you manage the comments only the Active Comments (ones that need your attention) are visible. The rest become part of your searchable engagement database.
But I use an inbox management tool and don't need to respond
And please keep using it. We're not here to replace your amazing inbox management tool However we do offer a few bells and whistles as well.
Post Level Comment Search
Responding isn't the only cool feature. All the comments come in as a live searchable database for that post (I bet your other software doesn't do that... see we're an amazing add-on!) What does this mean? Reese could easily search 'Harvard' and see how many Harvard references have been made amongst all the comments.
Wait there's more
The entire comment database is also downloadable on the post level with the click of a button. Why is this awesome? Well, with a full spreadsheet of comments and commenters, etc. you can analyze the chatter, active posters, etc.
Post level giveaways
This topic is so amazing we actually have a full blog on this for you to enjoy.
